Yes, it matters. Bifidobacteria are the most prevalent good bacteria in your large intestine (or colon), accounting for about 25 percent of the healthy bacteria there. However, as we age our levels of Bifidobacteria begin to decline, so taking a daily high-Bifido probiotic is essential for helping to replenish needed good bacteria in the gut. Most of your probiotics have high levels of Bifidobacteria from different strains, why is that? What's important about Bifidobacteria? And does it matter if the different strains in a formula contain mostly Lactobacillus cultures and very few if any Bifidobacterium strains?
