Leonard Smith, M.D.

Leonard Smith is a prominent general, gastrointestinal and vascular surgeon, as
well as an expert on nutrition and natural supplementation. In his role as medical
director for ReNew Life Formulas, he is involved extensively in the research and
formulation of new products.
For the past 25 years, Dr. Smith has studied countless holistic medical programs,
including those focusing on nutrition, exercise, chelation, stress management and
the relevance of mental and spiritual attitude with regard to healing. Acknowledging
the effectiveness of whole organic foods and nutritional supplementation, Dr. Smith
strives to stay on the cutting edge of research and keep pace with the latest advances
in the field of functional nutrition.
As a surgeon, Dr. Smith has experienced firsthand the problems associated with poor
digestion and the surgical procedures that are often necessary as a result. Dr.
Smith believes educating others is an essential part of his role as a doctor and
has always incorporated teaching the basics of healthy digestion to his patients.
In addition to maintaining a private practice in general surgery and nutritional
medicine, Dr. Smith’s work with cancer patients has driven him to pursue the
purest ingredients available when choosing a product for his patients. His interest
in formulating innovative products that are natural, safe and effective is a direct
result of his commitment to cutting-edge research in functional nutrition, as well
as his own wealth of knowledge about the human body.
Dr. Smith has been a member of the teaching staff and the clinical staff at the
University of Florida in Gainesville, where he received both his medical degree
and Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry. He has lectured at the university on
the topics of surgery and complementary medicine.
Dr. Smith completed his general and vascular surgery residency at the University
of Miami and served as a surgical instructor and co-director of the surgical intensive
care unit for two years afterward. Also a retired captain in the United States Air
Force Reserve, Dr. Smith resides currently in Gainesville, Florida with his wife
Jane.
